In this lecture-based workshop, we will explore some of the science, history, and application of materials frequently used in e-textile practices including silk, wool, cotton, polyester and conductive yarns, threads, fibers, etc. While historical and technical information will guide our dialogue, we will also consider ways to critically examine the ways these materials are produced and used to support the development of our own ethical, sustainable, and innovative approaches to e-textiles.
