FLYING

The closest international airports to Wassaic are in John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and LaGuardia Airport in New York City.

From JFK

via Subway

Take the Airtrain to Jamaica Station. Take the E train going toward World Trade Center to Lexington Av/53 St. Take the 6 train going toward Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall to Grand Central – 42 St. This will put you in Grand Central. Depending on when you arrive, this will take 1-1.5 hours.

via Taxi

It’s a 30-50 minute ride depending on traffic and will cost about $45. You can also use Lyft or Uber.

From LaGuardia

Unfortunately, the public transportation from LaGuardia is not great. You can take the Q70 bus to the 7 train to Grand Central which is about 50-60 minutes. We recommend a taxi, as it is much closer to Manhattan (20-30 minutes) so the fare is cheaper, about $30.

From Grand Central to Wassaic

You will need to take the Harlem Line on the Metro-North Railroad to Wassaic (the last stop). You can easily purchase a ticket at the station or pay on the train in cash to the conductor. The train runs about every two hours on weekends. At the moment, the MTA has not posted spring schedules, but we do not anticipate them changing much from the times below. STAYING IN NYC

If you are planning to stay in NYC before or after, below are a few recommendations for cheaper accommodations:

  • Pod Hotels (Murray Hill, Midtown, and Times Square in Manhattan; Williamsburg, BK) for 112-160 per night for 1-2 people
  • The Bowery House (NoLita, near East Village) for $60-100 per night for one person. This is more of a hostel.
  • AirBnB or VRBO are great options, especially if you want to stay together or meet locals.
